Buriram has many natural and cultural attractions such as Phanom Rung Historical Park and including the ruins of around 100 historical sandstone temples. The following are some of the most popular attractions in Buriram:
Historical Sites
Muang Tam Sanctuary
Location : Prakhonchai District
Muang Tam Sanctuary
Muang Tam Sanctuary
Muang Tam Sanctuary or Prasat Hin Muang Tam is a famous of religious site in Hunduism presumably built for worshipping Shiva in Prakhonchai District and it is assumed that the ancient community at Muang Tam Sanctuary had a vital relationship with other communities on Khmer Civilization Route from Mueang Phra Nakhon to the northeast of Thailand that consisting of the following buildings:

• The boundary wall is made of laterite bordered the sanctuary in the rectangular shape. The edge of the wall was once decorated by Baralee, row of spires, and in the middle is a huge sandstone porch called Gopura.

• Prasat Muang Tam Square and ponds are in between the corridor and the boundary. At each of the four corners of the gallery is a large L-shaped pond with the laterite steps to the bottom of the pond. On top of the corner is sandstone craved five-headed Naga and two access stairways along the edge (Ba Phuon Art).

• Rabiang Khot and porches. The inner wall is made of sandstone and is one long, narrow continuous corridor, called Rabiang Khot which connects to a rectangular shaped gallery surrounding the towers and halls. In the center of each side of the gallery is a large porch or access doorway and inside the gallery are windows decorated with balustrades.

• The brick towers in the center of the sanctuary are the most significant buildings where Hindu icons are enshrined and the worship ceremony is held. There is a cluster of 5 towers standing on the same laterite base which can be divided into two rows with three in the front row and two in the rear row. The tower in the center being the principle tower which symbolically represents the center of the universe is the seat of the principle of the deity in accordance with Hindu religious belief and now enshrines a large Shiva Linga discovered in the vicinity of the brick towers.

• Bannalai refers to a repository or library for storing sacred texts and manuscripts situated the two halls in the front of the cluster of the brick towers.

• Barai, located to the north of the sanctuary, is a big water reserve called "Mueng Tam Sea" by local people. It is in rectangular shape with laterite edge. Not only it religiously symbolizes the ocean of the universe but also ran the ancient community as the main water resource.

How to get there
  1. From Buriram - take highway no.219 and go into Highway No. 24, turn left into highway no.2117 until reaching Mueang Tam Sanctuary (about 8 km. from Phanom Rung Historical Park).
  2. From Phanomrung Historical Park - located only 8 km from the parking area at Phanom Rung Historical Park, take the road to Prakhonchai District. After you get down the hill about 500 meters, turn right following the sign and proceed about 3 kilometers.
Prang Ku Suan Taeng
Location : Pa Kham District
This attraction is khmer sanctuary and situated in Ban Don Wai, Tambon Nong Waeng. This is another Khmer site with 3 brick pagodas on a single laterite base. The famous Narai Banthom Sin lintel was discovered here and is now kept in the National Museum in Bangkok. The lintel proves this site dates from the 17th Buddhist century.

How to get there
Visitors can be reached by using the Buriram - Phayakkhaphum Phisai road (Highway No. 219) for 70 km, then left onto Highway No. 202 to Prathai for about 40 km where there is a left-hand road to Ku Suan Taeng.
Ban Khok Ngio Sanctuary (Prasat Ban Khok Ngio)
Location : Pa Kham District
This stone sanctuary is ancient Khmer site that located behind Wat Khok Ngio in Pa Kham District. Some architectural details are more lively compared with elements from hospitals elsewhere such as the image of Bhisajayaguru in the worshiping hall and a bronze mirror on which appears an inscription relating the importance of Prasat Khok Ngiew and the hospital intended to serve a large community.

How to get there
Visitors can be reached from town center of Buriram for 75 km on the highway no.218 and then use the route from Nang Rong District to Pa Kham District on the highway no.348. It is located before Pa Kham District for 3 km.

Nong Hong Sanctuary (Prasat Nong Hong)
Location : Non Din Daeng District
This is another Khmer sanctuary, a small ancient temple at the edge of Lam Nang Rong Dam in Lahan Sai District. The sanctuary comprises three Prang made of brick pagodas built on the same laterite base and surrounded by a laterite wall and a moat.

How to get there
Located about 100 km south of Buriram town near Laem Nang Rong dam use highway no.218 to Nang Rong District and then turn left into Highway no.348, passing Pa Kham District until one reaches Lahan Sai District. When reaching the intersection, the monument is visible from the dam itself at 500 m.

Religious Sites
Phra Chao Yai Wat Hong
Location : Phutthaisong District
Phra Chao Yai Wat Hong is located in Phutthaisong District, it is a large and an old Lao-style Buddha image in the posture 1.6 m wide and 2 m high of subduing Mara. It was built during the late Ayutthaya period around 18th century. Every year on February, a grand celebration is held to pay homage to the image and is attended by people from nearby provinces.

How to get there
The temple can be reached by taking the Phayakhaphum Phisai Rd. for 1 km and 2 km on a branch road.
Khao Angkhan Temple (Wat Khao Angkhan)
Location : Chalerm Prakiat District
This is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Buriram and it is an extinct volcano represents an interesting mixture of architecture from various periods. It's the modern constructions that make Wat Khao Angkhan worth a visit because inside the temple compound are ruins of ancient buildings and sandstone boundary markers which date back to the pre-Khmer Dvaravati period. It is one of the most beautiful and important temples in the province. In addition, inside the main buildings are wall murals and stories of Buddhism told in English and the ordination hall was surrounded by Buddha images.

How to get there
Located 20 km from Phanom Rung use highway no.24 (Buriram-Nang Rong-Ban Tako) same route to Phanom Rung Historical Park. If visitors reaching Ban Tako junction in Chalerm Prakiat District, turn right and proceed about 6 km to Ban Ta Pek Intersection, then turn right to Ban Charoensuk about 13 km and turn another right to Khao Angkhan Temple proceeding about 7 km.

Rao Su Monument
Location : Non Din Daeng District
Rao Su Monument was completed in 1979 and built for commemorate the bravery of citizens, police officers and soldiers who die during battles with communists because their tried to stop the construction of this important strategic route that the name "Rao Su" was given by His Majesty the King.
Museums
Lower Northeastern Cultural Centre (Buriram Cultural Center)
Location : Mueang District
It is situated in Buriram Rajabhat Institute and was opened on April 16, 1993 for display the artifacts and works of historical value and is a local archaeological as well as a resource centre for conducting research and arts study centre. Exhibitions of the Centre include elephants and the culture of the Suai people with tools used in capturing elephants, items in elephant rituals and photos of elephant corralling in the old days, local woven clothes, wall mural about the Twelve Month Ceremony of people in Northeast., pottery and Chinese ceramics found in Buriram.

Buriram Local Arts and Crafts Center
Location : Mueang District
Buriram Local Arts and Crafts Center has many sandstone replicas of South Isan arts such as the Narai lintel, good sculptures, Buddha images, etc. It is located infront of the Surin Provincial Army Headquarters on the Buriram intersection from the Buriram -Prakhon Chai Rd.
Markets
Klong Thom Market
Location : Mueang District
The market is located in the field over the train tracks on Robmeang Rd. every Monday and Wednesday (near the Diamond Grand Hotel) and also on Tanee Rd. every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. The products are mix of a farmers’ market, new clothing and gadget retailers, and vintage clothing sellers.

Public Parks
Huai Talat Reservoir and Birds Park
Location : Mueang District
The reservoir offers a magnificent view of the Phra Suphatthara Bophit Buddha image stop Khao Kradong. A replica of the Holy Footprint is also placed here. The park is the home of many waterfowls that include both local species and those that migrate from colder countries. They are prevalent during November to April which is Thailand's dry season.

How to get there
Take the Buriram - Prakhonchai Rd. for 12 km and take a left-handed road for 2 km.

Khao Kradong Forest Park
Location : Mueang District
Khao Kradong Forest Park is a relaxation spot on Khao Kradong which is an extinct volcano and at the present, it is a small pool which has water throughout the year. On the top of mountain, it houses ‘Phra Suphattharabophit’ — a large Buddha image that is the symbol of Buriram. There is also an ancient Prang Ku in which is located a duplicate Buddha footprint. The forest park has a lot of interesting indigenous plants under the supervision of the Wildlife Conservation Office of the Royal Forestry Department. Buriram Provincial Authorities have developed it into a major tourist spot by conserving nature and the environment in pristine condition. Numerous tourists come here on weekends.

How to get there
It located 6 km from the city on the Buriram - Prakhonchai road (Highway No. 219). Visitors can be reaching in 2 ways by car which are:
  1. By car - drive up to the mountaintop on a concrete road lined with Buddha images in various postures.
  2. By a stairway - climb to the mountaintop a level of 265 meters above sea levels
Natural Attractions
Lam Nang Rong Dam and Khlong Manao Reservoir
Location : Non Din Daeng District
About 200 meters from the monument lies the Development for Security Project Area of H.M. the King which includes the large reservoir Lam Nang Rong and the Khlong Manao reservoir, which are used for agriculture and relaxation. Visitors can rest aboard rafts on the reservoirs, swim, take boat trips to watch flocks of Teals.

Located at the Ban Hak intersection on highway no.24 about 4 km from Nang Rong District.

Thai Silk Village of Buriram
Location : Ban Nong Ta Kai, Nang Rong District
The most Buriram locals is famous for artful silk production and talent silk-weavers as they inherited silk-weaving skill from generations to generations. The largest awards’ winning silk weaving areas are in Bhudthaisong and Napho Districts. Napho & Bhudthaisong groups of silk-weavers also received weaving designs and marketing assistances from the Queen’s Project for Promoting Artisans. The outstanding silk is Mudmee, a unique weaving style, which have won more than 47 regional and national awards from the year 2534-2544 B.E. With support from HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, and the Thai Government, Napho District is home for the Artisan Education Center to promote the development of silk-weaving in the area.
