Prathat Renu
Location : Amphoe Renu Nakhon
Prathat Renu in Ban Renu Nakhon was built in 1918 and modeled on Prathat Phanom. It is 35
metres high and 8.37 metres wide with 4 gates.
It is used to enshrine the sacred sculptures and golden Buddha images in its pagoda. In the ordination hall are enshrined the beautiful
Buddha images of Pra Ongsaen.
Prathat Phanom
Location : Amphoe That Phanom
Phra That Phanom is located 51 km from Nakhon Phanom town centre. It was built in the 16th century by
the Laotian King Setthathirath of Lan Xang. It is used to house the Buddha’s breast bones.
The architecture of the Phra That is found in the architecture of Khmer castles. It is 53.60
metres high and 12.33 metres wide. The site has been restored several times by the Fine Arts Department.
The ground floor is a museum housing many ancient items. An annual celebration is held from the 10th day
of the waxing moon to the 1st day of the waning moon of the 3rd lunar month

How to get there: Take Highway No.212. There are also air-con and non air-con buses from the bus
terminal in the town centre going straight to Phra That Phanom.
Location : Amphoe Na Kae
From Nakhon Phanom take Highway 212 for 7 kms. and turn left onto Highway 223. The Temple is 20 kms. on the left. This historical pagoda
has special aperture of Prathat Srikhun is it likeness to Prathat Phanom.
Location : Amphoe Tha Uthen
Prathat Tha Uthen is situated in Tha Uthen District opposite Hinboon in the Province of Khammouange, Lao PDR, which was historical
town during the Sri Kotrabun Kingdom. This shrine, which has the likeness of Prathat Phanom, is 33 wa high and 6 wa 3 sok wide. It
was built by Pra Archan Sritad in 1912 to store a relic of the Lord Buddha which came from Rangkoog, Burma.
Location : Amphoe Papak
is another important historical place where Lord Buddha's relics and the remains of enlightened priests are kept.
A Buddha image carved from the trunk of the country's largest neem tree can be found inside the temple. Take Highway
22 and continue on Highway 2276.
Pra Bang
Location : Amphoe Tha Uthen
The Baddha Images of Pra Bang is enshrined in Wat Triphum in Tha Uthen. This image is 80 inches high and stands on
octagonal plinth which is 2.5 inches thick and 15 inches high. its mounted on 8 sculptured elephants and was built
in 1465. People believe that if this image is taken in procession around the town it will rain.
Location : Amphoe Mueang
This temple, which is as old as Nakhon Phanom it self, is where the Buddha images of Phra Teaw and Phra Tiam are enshrined.
These Buddha images are of special significance to Nakhon Phanom, and are paid respects to by people. This temple is by
the Maekhong River next to the Indochina Market.
Wat Srithep Pradittharam
Location : Amphoe Mueang
This temple has a very beautiful ordination hall, which has delightful murals on the wall. Enshrined in this temple is the
very important Buddha image of Pra Sang which by legend was made at the same time as the Buddha images of Pra Suk and Pra Sai
(Wat Phochi-Nongkai). Also in this Temple is the revered sculpture of Luang Phu Chan who is well known, and paid respects to
by the people of the North East.
Wat Trai Phum
Location : Amphoe Tha Uthen
A riverside temple located in Tha Uthen District where the 15th century, 80-inch tall Phra Bang image with an octagon base surrounded
by 8 elephants is enshrined. It is believed that a procession with the image during the dry season will bring rainfall.
Wat Si Thep
Location : Amphoe Meuang
Wat Si Thep is situated on Sunthon Wichit Road and houses the highly revered Phra Saeng, which is said to have been built along with
Phra Suk and Phra Sai, two other Buddha images. In addition, the ordination hall features exquisite murals.
Wat Maha That
Location : Amphoe Meuang
This monastery is located on Sunthon Wichit Road, on the bank of Mekong River. The compound includes Phra That Nakhon a
sacred pagoda highly worshipped by Buddhists. With a square base of 5.8
metres wide and a height of 24 metres, the pagoda
was built by Phraya Ammat (Pom), the army commander-in-chief from Vientiane who built Nakhon Phanom City.
Dansaocoi (Na Kae)

Dansaocoi (Na Kae), 6 kms. from Na Kae, consists of flat rock on a mountain which has few trees and gives a panoramic view
across Prathad Phanom and Nong Han district of Sakon Nakhon.
Hat Thai Meuang

Thai Mueang Beach is a freshwater beach that appears only during the dry season from February to April when it extends
to the middle of the Mekong River almost reaching the river bank on the Laos side. This beach is another excellent place
from which to enjoy the river view from dusk to dawn.
Phu Langka National Park
Location : Amphoe Ban Phaeng
This park is in the Langka Mountain Range, 6 kilometres from Ban Phaeng district and comprises 2 waterfalls.
Namtok Tat Kham is located near the park office. This small 4-tiered waterfall is superb for relaxation.
Namtok Tat Pho, which can be seen from the highway paralleling the Mekong River, is located 11 kilometres
from Ban Phaeng and 5 kilometres from Tat Kham Waterfall. Equally beautiful, Tat Pho is best visited during
the rainy season. A trail to the waterfall allows visitors to enjoy the beauty of both sides of the falls
while walking a little over 1 hour.

Riverside Promenade

Fancy a walk along the mighty and famous Mekong Riverω Visitors can stroll along the riverside promenade parallel to the Mekong River and enjoy the view
across the river of Tha Khaek City against the mountainous backdrop. The view is spectacular in the evening as the sun sets over the mountains on the
other side of the river.

This area is adjacent to the Maekhong River. During the summer month of February to April the water level drops to reveal a stretch of
unspoilt sand that extends almost to the Lao side of the river. It's an ideal picnic area.

lies on the route to Phu Lanka, and reveals four cascades amid pure nature.
Ban Nong Chan Old Town

This is the only site where it is possible to see the brick ruins and a number of large trees that are over a hundred years old.
Archeological evidence reveals that the place was formerly the camp site of Phraya Chiangsa who led his troops from Vientiane to
assist Tao Kumsing in the fight to liberate Tao Kumsing's Kingdom from Tao Gugnews control. This old town is located about 5
kilometres from the city.
Ban Na Chok

The village was once a safe house for Ho Chi Minh, an ex-president of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, during 1924 -1931 when
he led the war for Vietnam’s independence. The village is shady with various plants. Vietnamese cuisine is available. Ban Na

Si Kotra Boon Beach
Location : Amphoe Muaeng
Isan is a land locked region but one of the amazing natural wonders that it has is a sand beach.
The site only appears during summer from February to May. This fresh water sand beach protrudes
into the middle of Mekong River. The sunrise here is not to be missed and the most beautiful
moment lasts until 09.00 am. The sand beach lies opposite Kham Muan Sub-district Office of
Laos.
How to get there: From Bangkok, take Highway No.2 to Khon Kaen, continue to
Highway No.209, 213 and 22, pass Kalasin, Sakon Nakhon to Nakhon Phanom.
