Monument
Prap Ho Monument
Location : Mueang District
Prap Ho Monument was built to keep the cremated bones of those who lost their lives in the suppression of the Ho in 1886 by an order of Luang Prachaksinlapakhom, the suppression commander, to honour the good deeds of those who sacrificed their own lives for the nation. This monument is located in front of the old city hall and there are inscriptions in Chinese, English, Laotian and Thai on all four directions of the monument. A worshipping ceremony and a fair to celebrate the monument are held every year on 5 March.

Chao Muang Nong Khai Museum
Location : Mueang District
Chao Mueang Nong Khai Museum is the house of the first governor in Nong Khai. "Thao Suwothamma" who was established Nong Khai and was a son of Thao Paeng who is a city clerk of Mueang Yasothon. He joined to combat and defeated the enemies in many encounters at that time then he received the royal appointment as a Pha Pathum Thewa Phiban (Thao Suwothamma - Bunma Na Nongkhai) and as the first governor of Nongkhai in 2370 B.E.
Nong Khai Museum
Location : Mueang District
Nong Khai Museum is a small museum. It was the first city hall of Nong Khai and change to museum for exhibits mostly photographs from temples, famous monks. Besides this museum was exhibit the old Chinese and Vietnamese communities as well as some traditional tools and swords, ceramics, pottery and items from the nearby archeological site in Tha Bo.

Tha Sadet is the old market and the most popular destination in town located along Mekong River. There are many local products shops selling electronics, watches, jewelry, silver ornaments, ceramics, hand-woven cotton and herbs which make wonderful souvenirs. Many tourists both foreign and Thai, come to visits Tha Sadet Market for look wonderful souvenirs. Furthermore, this is a checkpoint for local people to cross the border into Laos, while visitors in general have to go through the Thai - Lao Friendship Bridge checkpoint.

Natural Attractions
Chom Mani Beach
Location : Mueang District
Chom Mani Beach is popular attraction of local people and has been called as “Pattaya Isan”. This beach occurs every year during summer on the banks of the Mekhong River that separates Thailand from Laos at this point. The beach has about 200 meters long and the best month to visit is April.

Wang Bua Daeng is a large natural swamp which has blooming red lotus flower over two thousand Rai. Tourists can see beautiful scene of lotus from the pier or hiring a boat to see blooming lotus closely. The red lotus are occurs only during December to February and the best time to see during early morning to 10 am.
Wang Nam Mok Waterfall
Location : Sri Chiang Mai District
Wang Nam Mok Waterfall is located on the north of Wang Nam Mok Village which is a small homestay village surrounded by beautiful mountains. This waterfall is around 30 meters high and is accessible by car. The area of the waterfall consists of different shapes of crag on the ridge and a pond flowing in a level. Downstairs is where the big pond and the rock field are at. The tourists can swim in this waterfall. The most suitable time to come here is during June to October. Moreover, tourists can take a good time with homestay, go trekking, join the rice offering ceremony and have big dinner with all the villagers here. The big dinner is a tradition of this village to welcome people from other province by serving local dishes.

How to get there: From Sri Chiang Mai Sub-district municipality, take the route leading to Sangkhom District about 28 kilometers. Twenty meters prior to Wat Hin Mak Peng, turn left into the road leading to Ban Wang Nam Mok (7 kilometers).
Nong Khai Horticultural Research Centre
Location : Rattanawaphi District
Nong Khai Horticultural Research Centre has the aim for research many plants for the better life of Thai farmers. The success of the research centre is the new tomato species for making sauce. This species gives the best yield and was later promoted among the Thai farmers to grow it. Some longan species are also planted here and the result is quite good as they grow well in Northeast Thailand. The tourists can visit to learn and enjoy with many local vegetables, herbs and more than 100 species of fragrant flowers are gathered here. During the cool season, colourful temperate flowers will be grown as well.
Nong Pla Buek
Location : Sangkhom District
Nong Pla Buek is one of good sunset viewpoint of Mekong River in Sangkhom District, Nong Khai. When the water in the Mekong River dry, at here will be appear plenty of rock which is a beautiful scene to take a photograph. Nong Pla Buek is located from Sangkhom District about 23 kilometers.
Phu Huay Isan

Phu Huay Isan
Phu Huay Isan is a great place to see sunrise and the sea of fog with Mekong river panorama view. It has two spots to see viewpoint are in the area of Ban Muang which is highest viewpoint and the other in area of Krua Mai Nam. Both viewpoint of Ban Muang and Krua Mai Nam have difference beautiful. The best time to visit is 05:30 am. - 08:00 am. in winter season or during December - January.

How to get there: Phu Huay Isan is not allowed to drive a car to viewpoint but can parking at below. There are e-taek truck service take tourists to a viewpoint.
Phu Lone
Location : Sangkhom District
Phu Lone is a good destination to see beautiful sunset with panorama view of Mekong River located at Ban Nong, Ban Muang Sub-district. The tourists can go to viewpoint by a 4-wheel drive truck only can not use the sedan car or can use service of e-taek truck for go to viewpoint.

How to get there: Phu Lone is located in Sangkhom District, take highway no. 211 to Pak Chom District, Loei about 23 kilometers. When will be reach Tham Khiri Buri Temple on the left, tune left onto the cement road about 200 meters to Wat Khiri Buri and Phu Lone.
Than Thip Waterfall
Location : Sangkhom District
Than Thip Waterfall is one of destinations spot to take vacation on holidays. It is the most beautiful waterfall in the rainy season. The waterfall has three tiers which the first tier is around 30 meters high and its long white body of water rushes into a pond below. The second tier of about 100 meters high can be reached through a marked trail and the third tier is around 70 meters high.

How to get there: Drive along Highway 211. At Km. 97-98, follow a road sign to turn left and go on for around 2 kilometers. (It is about 13 kilometers from Sangkhom District). From the parking area, walk another 100 meters.
Than Thong Waterfall
Location : Sangkhom District
Than Thong Waterfall is the waterfall 30 meters high flows down to Mekong River where the large pool below is a perfect for swimming. It is the good place to relaxing on holidays. The best time to visit is during rainy season. The surrounding area is an arboretum with a thick forest.

How to get there: Take Nong Khai - Si Chiang Mai - Sangkhom route (Highway 211) past Ban Chai Charoen to Ban Pha Tang (Highway 2186). At Km. 74, around 11 kilometers before reaching the town, Than Thong Waterfall is on your right, while the car park is on the left.

Nong Khai Aquarium
Nong Khai Aquarium is a good place to visit, especially with children. This aquarium is located in the Khon Kaen University (Nong Khai Branch) to collect the different kinds of fish from the Makong River and show them to the tourists. Inside the aquarium, there is an open tunnel with 34 meters length. It is a 2 level pavement with the salt water fish along both sides. Downstairs are the freshwater fish zone and the local fish zone which including the giant catfish which has weighs more than 120 kilograms. Moreover, there are the clown fish and the pangasius.

How to get there: Nong Khai Aquarium is located from town around 8 kilometers by take Highway No.2.

Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge
Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge is the first international bridge spanning the Mekong and it link between Mueang District, Nong Khai and Tha Duea of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic. The bridge was built jointly by the governments of Australia, Thailand and Laos. It was opened in April 8, 1994. This bridge is 1,174 meters long and 12.7 meters wide, with two driving lanes and the middle space spare for the establishment of a train track. At a foot of the bridge, there is an immigration checkpoint.
